Knowing the history of a shoe may not be so attractive, maybe it’s even a little boring. However, if I like the shoe, then I like to know more about it for two reasons: to know the evolution of the design and to create a collection with the models. It is this last option my favorite.

The company launched its first shoes in 1917 and named them All Star. Later, in 1921, a basketball player named Charles “Chuck” Taylor popularized them among students to whom he gave basketball lessons. Soon after, they were used by athletes at the Olympic Games, and by American soldiers during World War II. In 1930, the name Chuck Taylor was incorporated into the trimmings showing the Converse All Star logo. The shoe then became known as the Converse “Chuck Taylor” All Star.

In 1957, Converse created the low-cut “Oxford” version of the All Star and soon after began producing the shoes in various colors and prints. The Chuck Taylor All Star is 103 years old and has been an important part of urban culture. They were worn by Basquiat, Kurt Cobain, skaters, artists, and many others.

Precisely today Converse releases a new model, which represents the latest trends in sneaker fashion. However, I have to say that Converse Chuck Taylor All Star is still my favorite.

After these short paragraphs of history, I leave you my selection of favorite Converse models. Are you more of the classics or the latest models?

Saber la historia de un zapato, puede no ser tan atractivo, quizás es hasta un poco aburrido, pero si el zapato en cuestión me gusta mucho, el gusanillo de la curiosidad me puede picar por varias razones: una por saber la evolución del diseño y dos para coleccionar varios modelos. La verdad es que esta última opción es la que más me atrae.

La compañía lanza sus primeras zapatillas en 1917 y las llamó All Star. Posteriormente en 1921, un jugador de baloncesto llamado Charles “Chuck” Taylor, las popularizó entre los estudiates a quienes les daba clases de baloncesto.
